How we hold your information.
What we collect
Your email address when you ask to join. Your name and a short note about yourself when you become a member. Whatever you choose to write inside the Circle. That's it. We do not track you across the internet. We do not buy data about you. We do not install advertising trackers on this site.
Who sees what you write
Threads and conversations inside the Circle are visible only to other members and to Brandy. We do not publish your writing publicly, ever, without your explicit written permission. When we quote a member elsewhere (for example, on this site or in a letter), the quote is anonymized unless you have asked us to use your name.
Who we share it with
No one we don't have to. We use a small number of services to run the Circle — a host, an email provider, a payments processor — and they see only what they need to do their job. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Full stop.
How long we keep it
As long as you are a member, plus 30 days after you leave (so you can come back without losing your history). After that, your account and writing are deleted. You can ask us to delete everything sooner by emailing hello@thecircle.co.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we have. You can ask us to change it. You can ask us to delete it. We'll do it within a week, usually sooner, and we won't ask why.
Changes to this page
If we update this, we'll tell you in a letter before the change takes effect. We will not change it quietly.
